Frequently Asked Questions:
What is assisted living?
- Assisted living is a special combination of housing, personalized
support services and health care designed to respond to the individual
needs of those who need help with activities of daily living but do not
need the specialized care of a nursing home. Assisted living care
promotes independence and dignity for each resident and encourages the
involvement of the resident's family, neighbors and friends; staff is
available to meet scheduled and unscheduled needs.
Is Sommerset a "nursing home"?
How does Sommerset differ from other settings offering care for
Seniors?
- At Sommerset, the resident is in control. With 24 hour certified
staff to provide care and assistance, Sommerset residents enjoy a secure
and worry-free life-style; to receive the kind of care they need, when
they need it, in a home-like environment. Our emphasis on individuality
extends to our suites as well. Residents choose from four different
suite plans, each with a full private bath, mini-kitchen and comfortable
sleeping and living areas. Residents furnish their own suite with their
own furniture and decor items - we can even help hang favorite family
photos and mementos.
